Deltae2000 app for iPhone and iPad

DeltaE2000 quantitates the difference between two colours - allowing a Comparison color to be compared against a Standard color.

Several measurements of Delta E have been defined by the International Commission on Illumination - the current standard is: LAB DeltaE CIEDE2000 - this is the default measurement produced by this app. The definition has some minor ambiguities. The DeltaE2000 implementation in this app has been successfully checked for accuracy against the test dataset (34 color pairs) specified in:
Sharma, G, Wu, G & Dalal, E.N (2005) “ The CIEDE2000 Color-Difference Formula: Implementation Notes, Supplementary Test Data, and Mathematical Observations” Color Research & Applications. Wiley Interscience 30 (1): 21 - 30

The app will also calculate: DeltaECIE76; DeltaECIE94 and CMC(2:1)

There is also a module where the Comparison color can be interactively altered giving a continuous update of ΔE2000 which allows experimenting (playing) with different colors while assessing their ΔE2000 values.

DeltaE values, and LAB colours can be copied to the clipboard for easy pasting into a spreadsheet or similar app.
